Chanctonbury Community Play Scheme (CCPS)

Service

Chanctonbury Community Playscheme is a summer holiday weekday play scheme operating in the south of West Sussex for children with a current EHCP between the ages of 5-19. We are a registered CIO and work on the basis of providing fun, inclusive activities, trips and entertainment for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities to take part in along side their non-disabled peers.
We are based at Oak Grove College, Worthing in July and August.

What we do:

  • We offer a wide range of accessible trips, in-house entertainers and activities for our children and young people to engage with.
  • Our provision is based on fun, and engaging children and young people in a wide range of new experiences they may not have had the chance to experience before.
  • We have more than 20 adult volunteers on site each day, many of whom have many years of experience in working with children and young people with special and complex needs.
  • We offer transport to trips away from CCPS venues to make the provision more accessible.
  • To access the service children and young people must have a current EHCP.

Our users say:

"CCPS is an excellent play scheme, my son loves going every year and can't wait for the summer to come."

Fantastic playscheme. I dont know what I would of done without them. A service to be cherished. More money is needed to keep them afloat every year. We cannot afford to lose them. Remember this service relys on volunteers. Thank you to all those fabulous people who give up their time. Comment posted via the feedback button on the Local Offer.

We have been accessing CCPS for a few years now, it’s our last year this year, we will miss it so much. Our daughter always comes home happy and exhausted, and looks forward to club every summer. The only downside is that it stops at 19, when education can carry on until 25, what are we going to do next summer? Thankyou for some amazing memories CCPS. 😊

My son has attended CCPS for the past 6yrs, he absolutely loves it and looks forward to the different activities. Both venues have pools so the children get to swim several times a week and the organisers are always introducing new activities to engage all the children. From horseriding to rock climbing, trips out and messy play, there really is something to keep every child happy and give parents sime much needed 'me' time! Would be lost without CCPS in the summer.

"Thanks for another great week of CCPS for our son with Down Syndrome. He loved it and was given some great play and trip opportunities. My only suggestion is that you please resume the minibus from Chichester as it was very difficult sorting out transport to and from the play scheme whilst both having full time jobs too. We'd also send him for more weeks if the opportunity was there as he absolutely loves it. Thanks for all you do." Comment left via the feedback button and posted by the Local Offer Officer.

"My son accessed CCPS for the second year. This is a quality summer playscheme run by experienced team leaders. My son was able to join in a range of sensory activities including regular swimming. Travelling for Horsham to Worthing each day was really worth it." "I am amazed at the dedication, love and energy everyone who is involved in ccps. I buddy ed a young lady one evening, and although they ed been going since 8am ish at 9pm they were still as dedicated. What an amazing resource, allowing families and siblings respite, whilst supplying a wide variety of activities, fun and a lot of laughter for the asaid child. I can't praise this scheme enough, to see the smiling faces, children and helpers at collection time is so uplifting. I will be enrolling my charge into next year's activities , she got so much out of spending time with her peer group. Thank you ccps xx"

What can I say!! Another amazing year at CCPS. One sons 3rd year and another's 1st. Both have had a fabulous time. The team work is exceptional!! The time and effort the staff and volunteers put into this scheme is amazing!! My boys have been able to get stuck into so many different activities, safely and totally supported but being kept safe at the same time!! My youngest has just thrived and grown up Over the summer. His personality has been able to shine through where he's been so relaxed! I would be lost without this scheme!!!!

    Thank you to everyone involved!!

I cant thank CCPS enough for the wonderful playscheme that they offer to our daughter. It is a long holiday and at least I know that she is happy, having fun and experiencing many different things. Thank you to those that organise it and to all those volunteers who give up their time to care for and have fun with our children!! What would we do without you!
