Choosing Childcare (Family Information Service)
Service
All childcare providers should make reasonable adjustments to include children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in line with the SEND Code of Practice. If you are looking for childcare or early education vacancies, we can help you find childcare settings in your area. Follow the website link in our Contact Details section on the right.
What we do:
- Help you find out which childminders, pre-schools and nurseries are in your area.
- Help you find out which breakfast clubs, out-of-school clubs and holiday playschemes are in your area.
- The Ordinarily Available Inclusive Practice guide highlights the expectations and strategies that can ‘ordinarily’ be provided for a child in a mainstream setting: https://schools.local-offer.org/send-toolkit/ordinarily-available-inclusive-practice/
- Provide information about paying for childcare, such as Early Years Funded Entitlement funding or tax-free childcare.
- Offer extra support if you are struggling to find childcare to meet your and your child’s needs.
