Team Domenica - Removing barriers to work for people with learning disabilities.

Service

Team Domenica is a social enterprise charity. Our vision is for people with learning disabilities to be valued in the workplace, to reach their full potential and feel included as members of society. Based in central Brighton and Hove, we operate through a unique three-tier set-up of Training Centre, Training Café (Café Domenica) and Employment Centre.

What we do:

  • SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMME - A one-year structured study and training programme, 4 days a week where all candidates complete a registered qualification. Educational units are run alongside in-house work placements at Café Domenica.
  • SUPPORTED INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME - A one-year programme based mostly in the work place of a partnered employer. Placements are combined with on-going support and training from a Job Coach.
  • WRAP AROUND PROGRAMME - Designed to support and sustain candidates who transition into paid work. A high level of continued support from a training mentor to the candidate and employer.
  • ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME - Fun afternoon activites, for candidates to develop their soft employability skills and help overall mental health and well-being. Including improved communication skills, social skills, confidence and resilience to stress.
  • DAY SERVICE PROGRAMME - Through in-house work placements at Café Domenica, candidates feel valued and connected to their community, building on work experience, high levels of social interaction and independence

Our users say:

"I feel so comfortable at Team Domenica. I feel I am now making progress towards paid work. Working in the café has given me a taste of what it feels like to have a real job and I am now ready for paid work" Aaron Dawson
